Kelantan State on Cheaper fuel
The Kelantan state government says it has received offers for cheaper, imported NGV (natural gas for vehicle) and (LPG) liquefied petroleum gas from overseas companies as part of its move to lighten the burden of the people following the increased fuel prices. However, the overseas producers of the fuel have requested the state government to get the Approval Permit (AP) to import the fuel, the chairman of the state committee for Economic, Finance and Social Planning, Datuk Husam Musa said. — BERNAMA
– CS : A very welcome move by the state government. Other states should follow.
Petronas
Its other project is Petronas NGV Sdn Bhd, which owns 90 stations with NGV facilities and has plans to increase the number of stations to 200 by 2010. Established in 1992, the NGV is sold at 68 sen per litre and Petronas has forked out RM500 million in subsidies.
Taxi Rates
The situation became worse ever since the government raised the fuel price last month, triggering a free-for-all situation as more and more cabbies decide to do away with the meter and quote their own rates according to their whims and fancies. The argument that NGV (Natural Gas for Vehicles) is cheaper and, therefore, the price increase does not affect them no longer holds water as they claim that it makes no difference at all.

Proton NGV by this October, well they should move into production ASAP. Base on the current CAMPRO engine specification they are ready for NGV installation even from design stage. Why the wait? Maybe because of demand was not there before or they just keep the best for last.
More details on Proton CAMPRO Engine
Developed in partnership with Lotus Engineering, this engine grants PROTON complete vehicle design independence. Its breakthrough engine technology produces low fuel consumption, yet gives rapid, high power response, and can even be produced to run on alternative fuels such as NGV.
Its represents true world class powertrain engineering, and a revolutionary step forward in engine manufacture, with low toxic emissions, low noise levels and above all, highly economical maintenance of long service intervals.

We are expecting another price increase within this coming months. Updates will be done upon receiving the news.
Proton will start producing cars installing with NGV in this coming October. This option is available for types and models of Proton. CEO Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin said this move is to help reduce fuel price hike impact on car owners.
With the NGV pre-installed Protons we could expect much cheaper installation cost compared to other installers out there. Owners should expect better price with better warranty while maintaining better NGV installation finishes.
Although the move is quite late compare to Hyundai which recently announced an NGV kit for it’s Hyundai Accent model it is still a pretty much welcome option to have. We can also expect a Perodua NGV pre-installed kit / production soon. Perodua cars known for its fuel efficiency but an NGV kits owners will have more extra money in their pockets.
They are some talks on Proton Hybrid, but the initiative is remain to be seen in near future.
Any car owners with NGV installed, what is the cost for your NGV installation?
Malaysian still loves their cars, but look to the country who owns a few of world’s mega automotive corporation. It could be years before we ditch the cars an hop on the public transport.

Kimiyuki Suda should be a perfect customer for Japan’s carmakers. He’s a young (34), successful executive at an Internet-services company in Tokyo and has plenty of disposable income. He used to own Toyota’s Hilux Surf, a sport utility vehicle. But now he uses mostly subways and trains. “It’s not inconvenient at all,” he says. Besides, “having a car is so 20th century.”
Suda reflects a worrisome trend in Japan; the automobile is losing its emotional appeal, particularly among the young, who prefer to spend their money on the latest electronic gadgets. While minicars and luxury foreign brands are still popular, everything in between is slipping. Last year sales fell 6.7 percent—7.6 percent if you don’t count the minicar market. There have been larger one-year drops in other nations: sales in Germany fell 9 percent in 2007 thanks to a tax hike. But analysts say Japan is unique in that sales have been eroding steadily over time. Since 1990, yearly new-car sales have fallen from 7.8 million to 5.4 million units in 2007.
