Proton Perdana the flagship of Proton fleet of cars are really in need of replacement. Enough with the facelifts, it deserves better than a minor changes.

Malaysian car manufacturer, PROTON Holdings Berhad, today launched the Persona, at the 16th Indonesia International Motorshow, the biggest automotive event in the country.
The Persona was officially launched by PROTON Managing Director Dato’ Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir in a ceremony witnessed by the Head of Chancery of the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia, YM Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Indonesia Government officials, PROTON representatives from Indonesia and Malaysia, its business partners, members of the media as well as customers.
The Persona is being introduced as the “Gen.2 Persona” in Indonesia and is PROTON’s fifth model in the country. PROTON entered the Indonesian market in March 2007 with the introduction of the Savvy and Gen.2 followed by the launch of the Waja and Neo later the same year.

Developed in partnership with Lotus Engineering, this engine grants PROTON complete vehicle design independence. Its breakthrough engine technology produces low fuel consumption, yet gives rapid, high power response, and can even be produced to run on alternative fuels.

Proton NGV by this October, well they should move into production ASAP. Base on the current CAMPRO engine specification they are ready for NGV installation even from design stage. Why the wait? Maybe because of demand was not there before or they just keep the best for last.

Proton will start producing cars installing with NGV in this coming October. This option is available for types and models of Proton. CEO Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin said this move is to help reduce fuel price hike impact on car owners.
With the NGV pre-installed Protons we could expect much cheaper installation cost compared to other installers out there. Owners should expect better price with better warranty while maintaining better NGV installation finishes.
Although the move is quite late compare to Hyundai which recently announced an NGV kit for it’s Hyundai Accent model it is still a pretty much welcome option to have. We can also expect a Perodua NGV pre-installed kit / production soon. Perodua cars known for its fuel efficiency but an NGV kits owners will have more extra money in their pockets.
They are some talks on Proton Hybrid, but the initiative is remain to be seen in near future.
