Nissan Motor Indonesia will present the “NISSAN TECHNOLOGY SQUARE” event at the Kelapa Gading Mall in Jakarta, Indonesia. The public automotive technologies showcase opens today and runs through August 25.

Indonesia is the second market where we hold this event. After completing its run in Indonesia, the Nissan Technology Square will visit several cities in multiple markets, including Singapore, Malaysia and India, etc.

At the Nissan Technology Square, Nissan will showcase how the company’s automotive technologies address the environment, safety and innovation. Visitors can experience examples of Nissan’s innovation and the future of automobiles through the exhibition, interactive displays and demonstrations.

Nissan chose PIVO2, an environmentally focused, electric urban commuter, as a key communications character for the event. First presented as one of the key concept vehicles at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, the vehicle embodies “friendly innovation” to create a new car-driver relationship. As such, PIVO2 serves as an ideal focal point for the Nissan Technology Square, where a quarter scale model of the vehicle will be displayed.

As part of Nissan’s commitment to supporting education, the event will be held in collaboration with local schools. Hideyuki Sakamoto, Nissan Corporate Vice President, will visit and talk with students about automotive technology, Nissan’s technical development activities and the latest technologies.

The Nissan Technology Square is part of the company’s ongoing communications outreach across Asia, which started with the successful Design Forum in 2007.

Lotus beats EVO HKS Carbon time attack

A few years back EVO was easily the worlds best ca, really impressed with it then. Now there is a new king, appeared just a concept car designed to show off Lotus race prep capabilities.

lotus-merdeka-race1.jpgIt was meant to be their vision of a GT racer using the Exige chassis, but they didn’t seem to have any further plans for it. They ultimately called it the Exige 300R. At the time it looked to me that the car would do the show circuit as a fancy Lotus concept car and that’d be the end of it. A damn shame that would have been if my thoughts were correct. Here are some of the specs:

1580 LBS
Full dry carbon widebody
400hp DTM spec 3.0L V6
Hewland sequential transmission
Motec M8, Ohlins custom suspension, AP brakes, etc.

Now, a high revving 400hp 6cyl and a sequential transmission in a 1580 package–that just sounds like an insane death machine. How insane you ask?

NGV Toyota may or may not be coming

FYI: This letter was written by a Loyal Toyota Owner in US.
Below is the letter that he wrote to Toyota. The other day he got a phone call: "Thank you for your letter. We’ve received a lot of CNG inquiries lately. We’ll forward your letter to the management right away. But we do not guarantee anything". At least they acknowledge CNG existence.

July 8, 2008
Dear Toyota representative,
I have no illusions regarding this letter, but at least I hope you will read it.
If you are in US, you know what the gas prices are. According to New York Times this will put 10 million vehicles off the roads within the next 3 years! I would like to suggest Toyota to start selling it’s alternative fuel models, namely Crown Comfort (LPG) and Probox (CNG) in US.
To get more info about either one of these fuels, please visit www.cngchat.com. But first let me remind you that Honda is already selling CNG Civic GX to the public, and is hugely successful, especially in places like California and Utah, where CNG is easily accessible and cheap. Why is my favorite Toyota hesitating?
