NGV Toyota may or may not be coming

FYI: This letter was written by a Loyal Toyota Owner in US.
Below is the letter that he wrote to Toyota. The other day he got a phone call: "Thank you for your letter. We’ve received a lot of CNG inquiries lately. We’ll forward your letter to the management right away. But we do not guarantee anything". At least they acknowledge CNG existence.

July 8, 2008
Dear Toyota representative,
I have no illusions regarding this letter, but at least I hope you will read it.
If you are in US, you know what the gas prices are. According to New York Times this will put 10 million vehicles off the roads within the next 3 years! I would like to suggest Toyota to start selling it’s alternative fuel models, namely Crown Comfort (LPG) and Probox (CNG) in US.
To get more info about either one of these fuels, please visit www.cngchat.com. But first let me remind you that Honda is already selling CNG Civic GX to the public, and is hugely successful, especially in places like California and Utah, where CNG is easily accessible and cheap. Why is my favorite Toyota hesitating?

Proton develops Gen2 EVE hybrid car

proton_gen2_eve_hybrid_1 Proton Malaysia is developing a new, fuel-efficient hybrid car to beat rising costs and address environmental concerns, reports said Sunday.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi told the state Bernama news agency he had already test-driven the car and urged the company to continue researching energy-saving technologies.

"The kind of car that all countries and car companies love now is the green car. Consumers will also be happy when they drive such a car knowing it saves fuel and does not pollute," the Star daily quoted him as saying.

"Such an effort by Proton will also assist the government in saving petrol and preserving the environment."

Hybrid vehicles, which deliver power by switching between a gasoline (petrol) engine and an electric motor, can save up to 30 percent on fuel costs but they are more expensive than conventional models.

NTV7’s Edisi 7 interviews Dr Halim Ali, inventor of the Hydrofuel system (I noticed the Hydroxene name is not used anymore). He says 5 liters of water lasts about 2,000km.
He claims over 79,000 (multiplied by RM1,300 that’s about RM102.7 million in sales!) bookings so far for the system and plans to expand the Hydrofuel dealer network up to 600 dealers nationwide. The first Hydrofuel units will be installed into customer vehicles in about 2 weeks time, and installation could take anywhere between 45 minutes to 3 hours.

He said that although he has received offers to sell the technology, some offers amounting to US$26mil (RM95.7mil), he had no intention of letting foreign parties get hold of it.

New System for In-Car Hydrogen Production

A company has developed a system that allows a car to produce its own Hydrogen, which could be used for powering a fuel cell. The system — by way of a device called the Metal-Steam combustor — separates Hydrogen out of heated water using metals like Magnesium and Aluminum.

Water powered car amazing concepts

h2o_fill_upMany years ago I remarked to my friends during one of our chatting sessions- “One day cars will run on water”. I can still remember how they all laughed at me as if I was crazy. Among them was someone who knew so much about the mechanics of a car and how it works. He was the one that laughed the loudest and took time to explain to us, especially me, how it wasn’t possible for cars to EVER run on water, even 30% water.
I wish I could see his face right now while demonstrating the water car technology to him. For the rest of my friends who were there that day that I still contact, they are so filled with shame for ever laughing at me that day.
