Daihatsu launches the Partially Redesigned Myvi

MyviDAIHATSU MOTOR CO., LTD. (Daihatsu) and Perodua, Daihatsu’s joint venture vehicle manufacture and sales company in Selangor, Malaysia, today announced the minor redesign of a compact car, the Myvi. An event to mark the launch of the new vehicle was held in Kuala Lumpur on the evening of August 22.
The Myvi was developed jointly by Perodua and Daihatsu in May 2005. Since then the vehicle has been a top-selling model, with cumulative sales exceeding 252,000 units, and has been well-received by a wide range of users across generational lines. Both the interior and the exterior of the vehicle have been redesigned. The annual sales target is 7,000 units and the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices range between 39,500 MYR and 49,700 MYR (approximately 1.20 to 1.53 million yen).

The new Myvi (standard grade) offers the following features:

  1. Highly refined sporty styling

  2. New seat cover and instrument panel color to enhance the soothing feel of the cabin space

  3. Advanced features such as a car audio system that can be connected to digital media and UV cut glass that reduces the penetration of UV rays

Origin of the name "Myvi"
A name is derived from "My Vehicle," "My Vision" and "Malaysian Vision." Myvi is intended to be a car that provides users with driving enjoyment and gives them a sense of pride in owning it.

Perodua, Malaysia’s second national auto manufacturer, has gradually expanded its product lineup. With the cooperation of the Malaysian government, Perodua has worked to raise cost competitiveness and enhance quality, including that of its suppliers, while also expanding its business through production of the Avanza under contract from Toyota and exports of the Myvi to Indonesia.
